Authentic French cuisine in a rural Kent hamlet

Fans of the cuisine of Joel Gross are beating a path to The Timber Batts which is a 15th century pub set in a hamlet deep in unspoilt and spectacular Kent countryside at Bodsham, near Wye. The beamed and timbered bar has an inglenook fireplace the size of a small room and, on a lower level, a reception bar with a large open fire.

The restaurant has its own huge fireplace, more beams, plus old pine tables (some with low back settees) and candles.

In late 2002, Joel Gross transported his successful Froggies Restaurant in Wye to the stunningly beautiful rural location of the Timber Batts in Bodsham.

Joel has not only succeeded in enticing his existing clientele from Wye to 'go the extra mile' to Bodsham but has also attracted a substantially broader customer base than would ever have been possible to accommodate at his former premises.

The Timber Batts is a member of Les Routiers denoting that it has individual character, a welcoming atmosphere, good cooking and fair prices.

The reputation of Froggies at The Timber Batts has spread far and wide and advance booking is strongly recommended.

Menus
Froggies offers three different menus - a wide-ranging daily a la carte menu; a selection of daily specials and a comprehensive bar snacks menu.

Notable dishes include superb stuffed mussels, a classic duck confit salad, perfect rack of lamb with herbs, or prime fillet of beef with Roquefort sauce - and these are cornerstones of the printed menu.

Profiteroles, tarte tatin or crème brûlée are classic and popular puddings.

Sourcing is impeccable: game from local shoots, locally grown vegetables, but cheeses are as French as the wine list which includes the house wine grown and produced by Joel's cousin in the Loire Valley.
