Flipping
Local Pancake Day
Wye
Farmers Market celebrates Pancake Day a few days late this
year, offering hot tasty treats for those with a weakness
for these symbolic snacks.
Local farmers and producers will be flipping pancakes
with a twist – offering shoppers a taste of Lent with a
hint of Kent.
Fresh,
hot pancakes
will be on sale all morning using local ingredients where
possible. Market
day will be also be a reminder that Spring is just around
the corner, as children and shoppers are given the chance to
see baby lambs on show.

Visit by Rare Breed baby
farm animals
A seasonal
addition to market day, baby goats, chickens, rabbits and
lambs of various breeds will be on the Green for all to see,
courtesy of the Rare Breeds Farm in Woodchurch.
As Wye Farmers'
Market Manager Claire Francis explains, "There's
nothing quite like the look on children's faces when they
see baby animals. Obviously, we're not going to eat the
animals from the Rare Breeds Farm, but our fluffy friends
will help teach children about farm life and where their
food comes from."
If the guest
appearance of Rare Breeds Farm animals proves successful, it
is likely that other similar events will become a regular
feature for market day. The variety of breeds are especially
appealing, from feather legged bantams to long eared lops,
"these very special guests are sure to turn
heads!" concludes Claire.
