The EarthAction Network
consists of 1,800 citizen groups in 152 countries. Several times a
year, EarthAction focuses on one specific global issue, distributing an
Action Alert to its network. Hundreds of organizations act together
around the world to contact their political representatives, to raise
the issue with their local media and to mobilize their members. More
than 1,000 national legislators and journalists already subscribe to
receive EarthAction’s Alerts. EarthAction has helped to save
rainforests, protect indigenous peoples, and strengthen international
agreements on environment, development and human rights.
Building on this existing
network, EarthAction is now using the growing power of the Internet.
Planet postcards and campaign material appear on the web site and can
be downloaded and emails can be selected and mailed directly from the
site to political representatives.
The first of our new Planet Postcards, featuring
the actor Leonardo DiCaprio with a message addressing the problem of
climate change can be accessed here: www.earthaction.org
